The DBT team at BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry) Stockholm is both pleased and proud to welcome Professor Michaela Swales to this year’s DBT Days, taking place in Stockholm on the 2nd to 3rd of October.
Professor Michaela Swales, PhD, Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Bangor University, completed intensive DBT training in Seattle, USA, in 1995 and has led the UK DBT Training Programme since 2002. In 2024, she was appointed President of the World DBT Association (WDBTA).
The first half-day will focus on updates related to the assessment of personality syndromes and emotional instability, drawing from Professor Swales’ work with the ICD-11 development group. This session is an important part of our ongoing efforts to enhance clinical competence and guide DBT teams in designing effective assessment for DBT treatments.
On the second day, Professor Swales will lead a workshop on working with emotional exposure in DBT. Participants will gain both a theoretical framework and, most importantly, practical experience in key therapist skills. We will also explore common obstacles and strategies for increasing emotional exposure within DBT practice.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of our DBT team – a milestone we look forward to celebrating with you!
Join us on Thursday evening for a fully vegetarian two-course dinner at the Clarion Hotel, complete with entertaining surprises.
Warm welcome!
The DBT Team, BUP Intensive Outpatient Care, Stockholm Health Care Services
