SIDBT ETS – The Italian Society for the Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a scientific and clinical association of DBT therapists founded in 2011 after the first Italian Intensive Training course with Marsha Linehan and Katie Korslund, who trainer the first 9 DBT teams. Its aim is spreading the Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in Italy according to criteria of adherence and fidelity to the original model developed by Marsha M. Linehan.
Since 2023 SIDBT has been working as a no profit Third Sector (ETS) entity and is registered in the National Single Register of the Third Sector (RUNTS) with number 3487. This passage represents a further recognition of its scientific and social mission.
SIDBT main aim is to train clinicians to apply the treatment in a faithful way to the original model, adapting it effectively to the different clinical contexts and needs of patients. DBT courses are provided by certified Italian trainers and entails several levels of expertise – from basic/introductory to advanced/Intensive Training https://www.sidbt.it/en/formazione/ . A continuous education program is offered on a free of cost format to all therapists members of the Society. Clinical supervision of teams are also provided. Two further aims are to contribute to DBT implementation through a wide network of recognised clinical centers and to contribute to the research evidence attainments on the treatment model.
Members of SIDBT are all therapists with different professionals background, i.e. MD, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Educators, Nurses, Social Workers and TERP (rehabilitation therapists). The number of members is increasing on an yearly basis and is currently around 400 active members.
